The four venues are located in the historical heart of Pistoia, between Piazza del Duomo and Via de’ Rossi.

Pistoia can be reached by bus (Autolinee Toscane company www.at-bus.it) and by rail (Trenitalia network www.trenitalia.it) from Florence (40 minutes), from Lucca (40 minutes), from Prato (20 minutes) and from Pisa (90 minutes).

If travelling by car, the Pistoia exit is on the A11 “Firenze – Mare” motorway and is easily reached from the airports of Florence (30 minutes), Pisa (1 hour), and Bologna (1 hour and a quarter).

Tickets and guided tours

Tickets may be purchased online choosing the time slot for admission, subject to availability.

Tickets may also be purchased at the ticket offices of the exhibition venues during public opening hours.

Accessibility

The Pistoia museums are accessible and welcoming places. All exhibition venues are fitted with ramps and lifts and are wheelchair-accessible.

The Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi, Palazzo de’ Rossi and Palazzo Buontalenti all have a wheelchair available for use by visitors.

Palazzo de’ Rossi is wheelchair-accessible from the Vicolo Girolamo de’ Rossi entrance.

Baby-changing facilities are available at the Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi and Palazzo Buontalenti.

The Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi, Palazzo de’ Rossi and Palazzo Buontalenti all have cloakrooms.

All exhibition panels and captions are in two languages, Italian and English.

Security

Visitors may not enter the exhibition venues with bags, backpacks, umbrellas, suitcases or items that could potentially damage the exhibits.

Visitors can leave their personal items in the lockers at the entrance to each venue; the cloakroom service is free of charge.

Bookshop

The Palazzo Buontalenti and Museo dell’Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi venues both have bookshops, where publications relating to the collections and exhibitions of Pistoia Musei are on sale, together with a wide range of items and merchandise focusing on art and design.

A selection of items may also be purchased online.

Private visits and events

Pistoia Musei offers the opportunity to arrange special, private and exclusive visits in all its locations, which may be held outside the normal public opening hours, for small and large groups. Visits, which may be led by expert guides, can be combined with a convivial occasion such as an aperitif or dinner, in one of the many spaces available, both indoors and outdoors.

In addition, Pistoia Musei venues can host private and corporate events, such as meetings, conferences, gala dinners or cocktail parties.
